Countryside Gardens is family owned and operated by the Wilk Family.  Our business would not have even came to be without the efforts of all five of us.  Tony is the main decision maker and our purchaser.  Barb is the finance person and assists with sales.  Our three children, Stephanie, Anthony, and Jamie, each have their respective rolls as well.  

Stephanie works sales, picks vegetables, and assists with caring for the animals.  Anthony is our tour guide and also cares for the animals.  Jamie was our best sales person, but has left the family business to explore other career objectives.

 We also could not have achieved our current level of business without the encouragement and help of our extended families, friends, and neighbors.

Our Business

We strive to provide the freshest of fruits and vegetables to our customers.  We grow some of the vegetables that we sell.  What we cannot grow on our farm, we purchase from other local farmers. 

We also sell our own farm fresh eggs!  The proceeds from the egg sales help us offset the cost of feeding the chickens and the other animals.    

We have many varieties of chickens, ducks, and turkeys.  We also have peacocks, exotic phesants, mute swans. emu, several varieties of goats and sheep, miniature horses, and pot belly pigs.  Most of the animals we have are of the smaller varieties, such as miniature, dwarf or pygmy varieties.  We find that the smaller animals are less frightening for the children.

There are babies of all kinds being hatched and born nearly every week.  In the spring, we obtain chicks of many sorts to sell to youngsters wanting to raise them for 4H and to show at the fairs.

 We provide tours to our customers and their children.  Our goal with the animals is to teach the youngsters about farm life and where some of their food comes from. 

How it all began

Tony and Barb purchased the property in October of 2003 as an investment with the intentions of building a wood shop to produce lawn furnishings from recycled building materials.  They started growing a garden in a small section of the property for their family's use.  They started selling the excess produce to aquaintences and neighbors.  The word spread and others started asking if they could purchase vegetables.  Thus, Countryside Gardens was born!  We have endured through Road Construction in our first summer, selling at the local Farmer's Market instead of at our Farm.  We began selling our vegetables at the roadside in our second summer, and have continued to grow ever since!  We are now in the process of putting up a building that will be our store.  With this store, we will be able to provide even more fresh fruits and veggies to our customers, along with other locally produced items such as honey and maple syrup.  Plus we will be open all year!
